Where can I learn German ONLINE that is structured and makes sense to a beginner?
I need to learn German, and we really can’t afford anything like Rosetta Stone or something similar, and whenever I look online, the sites aren’t always structured well for beginners. Can you please help me out?
And by learn German, I don’t mean “by the end or my studies I must have an absolute understanding of it” i mean “by the end or my studies I must be able to carry on a conversation in simple words”. :
www.canoo.net is a great comprehensive (and free) guide to German grammar, and it’s in English and German so you can learn in English first. As far as online dictionaries go, I recommend www.dict.cc (they have native pronunciations of words so you can learn how to say them correctly) and www.dict.leo.org. Once you have an okay grasp of the language, I recommend going to kino.to where you can watch films and television shows in German.
PS Avoid Rosetta Stone like the plague. It was the biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent and of all the people I know who tried it, I know no one who found it helpful.
